You May Leave a Review in 30 Seconds. I Bring It Home to My Family. ☘️
There are some mornings when I walk into my little workshop here in Slane, County Meath, knowing I’ll probably spend most of the day there.
Cutting rope. Measuring. Making bracelets. Packing orders. Writing notes. Preparing everything to travel from our little corner of Ireland to someone, sometimes thousands of miles away.
And then my phone pings.
A new review.
I stop what I’m doing and read it.
And I have to tell you something — I still get genuinely excited every single time.
Yesterday was one of those days.
Derek wrote about his Irish Flag bracelet:
“Love the design and bright colors. Comfortable to wear. Nice memory from my recent trip to Ireland.”
Donald wrote about his USA–Scotland bracelet:
“Great bracelet to celebrate family heritage. Very well made, colors are great. Extremely comfortable to wear.”
Another simply said:
“Easy to place any order! Family business that's eager to please. Packaging to the USA is perfect and timely.”
And Rob, about his bracelet:
“Shipped fast, well made, looks good.”
They may seem like a few simple sentences.
To me, they’re anything but.
I screenshot them. I show my wife. I show the kids.
“Look what someone said about the bracelet!”
They've heard me say that many, many times. 😂
And there's something pretty special about seeing my children happy and proud that something their dad made with his own hands here in Ireland is now being worn by somebody across the ocean.
That's the part of running a small business that you don't always see on a website.
There isn't a huge factory behind BM Nautical.
There isn't a giant team packing thousands of identical bracelets.
There’s me, spending long days in my workshop making them by hand. There’s my wife and my kids behind me. There’s our home here in Slane. And there are customers all around the world who somehow became part of our little story.
Some days are long. Some days things don't go according to plan. And, like every small business owner, there are days when I wonder whether all those hours in the workshop are worth it.
Then one of these reviews arrives.
And suddenly I'm smiling at my phone.
That's my fuel for another full day in the workshop.
What makes me happiest isn't simply seeing five stars.
It's reading why someone bought their bracelet.
A memory of Ireland.
Their Irish heritage.
Their family roots.
A trip they don't want to forget.
A connection between two countries.
A gift for somebody they love.
That means so much more to me than simply selling another bracelet.
When I started making nautical bracelets, I wanted them to feel personal. Something you could wear every day that quietly represented a place, a memory, a person or a part of who you are.
Seeing your reviews tells me that somehow, from this little workshop in County Meath, we're doing exactly that.
So if you've ever bought something from BM Nautical, left us a review, sent me a photograph, replied to one of my emails, recommended us to somebody, or simply told me you loved what arrived in the post...
Thank you. Truly.
You might think you're leaving a little review on a website.
But somewhere in Slane, there's a man walking out of his workshop with his phone in his hand to show his wife and kids what you just wrote.
And then walking back in with a very big smile. ☘️
From my family to yours — thank you for keeping this little Irish workshop busy.
